nass news 2026 mar world sundial day 2026Building on the success of the 2025 inaugural event celebrating world sundial day on March 20th, 2026. This global online gathering celebrates sundials, timekeeping, astronomy, history, art, mathematics, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage across the world.

World Sundial Day was originally created by Esteban Martínez Almirón on his website Reloj Andalusí. World Sundial Day is celebrated on the March Equinox, the day of the year on which the shadow in sundials casts a straight line on a plane and the day has a duration approximately equal to the one at night. The idea of WSD is supported by many individuals and organizations. 

The 2026 presentations include "Ancient Scandinavian Time-Keeping via a New Sundial in a School Car Park", "The Gnomonist's Survival Kit", "Sundials in Transilvania", Reconciling earthlings with solar time!", "Precision Dialing Online", and much, much more.

The 2025 presentations inlude "The world's first working sundial tattoo", "The eolution of astronomy with Camera Obscura sundials", "Lauri Anttila's unconventional sundials in Helsinki", and much more.
