- An 8-inch diameter bronze dial, with the traditional hourglass and wings says "Grow old along with me, the Best is yet to Be", The chapter ring has Roman numerals with hour marks delineated every 15 minutes. The dial sits upon a concrete pillar inscribed to Louis Burke Toomer.

- Four times last year [2018], a vandal has damaged the Chatham Square Sundial. Each time, members of the Savannah-Chatham Historic Site and Monument Commission have debated how to keep the brass shaft [gnomon] from being pried from its bronze base.
City workers then go through the process of ordering new parts, repairing the marker. It is a felony to damage monuments.
