Description: |
- A memorial alignment dial that illuminates the headstone of the Unknown Soldier on Remembrance Day, November 11 at 11:00 AM, commemorating the end of World War I. Remembrance Day is celebrated on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of each year.
The east-west axis extends to the Peace Tower, while the north-south axis parallels the path of the sun across the building on November 11. The concrete walls, grooved with large offset rectangles, are reminiscent of the rows of white grave markers in Allied war cemeteries. The headstone of the Unknown Soldier is the lone artifact, a simple bench the only furniture in Memorial Hall.
