- A 16 foot major axis analemmatic dial with stained concrete, hand painted date line. Hemlock branch hour posts were cut by Estate foresters and use iron numerals hand-forged by the Estate blacksmith.
The Biltmore Estate was constructed by George Washington Vanderbilt II from 1889 to 1895 and is the largest privately owned home in the United States. The home currently sits on over 8,000 acres and includes many acres of formal gardens, a winery, working farm, hotel and several restaurants. The Estate is open to visitors with purchase of admission.
