- A 30 inch diameter bronze equatorial dial. A slot in the rotatable gnomon project a line of sunlight onto the equatorial ring displaying Arabic hour numerals. Dial is corrected for longitude. Dial is mounted on a 53 inch high stone pedestal. This dial is also known as the George Cunningham Memorial Sundial as it was sponsored by the Cunningham Drug Stores to commemorate the opening of their first store in 1911 at a nearby corner.

General Information: | Inscription: | | - "This sundial commemorates three English greenhorns, Samuel Brighouse, John Morton and William Hailstone who in 1862 filed the first claim and planned the first house and industry in the then heavily wooded area bounded by Burrard Inlet, Stanley Park and Burrard St. to which they received title in 1867." They were called the "three greenhorn Englishmen" for investing so much money, effort and time in the venture to establish a farm and brick factory on the remote heavily wooded shoreline.
