Access: This is a private dial. See below for access details.
Located on the tip of Abel's Cape at the end of Fortune River. There is a path running along the cliff side from the back beach. It is a private path in ill repair and very dangerous.

Description:
A brass, horizontal dial about 14 inches in diameter sits on a stone pedestal with a red marble cap. Embossed Roman numbers mark the hours from 4am to 8pm, and delineated every 10 minutes. Radiating from the center are pointed leaves to each hour. The dial plate green patina is marred by graffiti and the gnomon has broken off. A restoration for this dial is planned using the original gnomon.
The sundial is a memorial to Charles P. Flockton, a 19th century thespian who had established a theater company on the Island.
Flockton owned the Cape until his death while acting in a play in San Francisco. He desired to be buried in Fortune and his ashes were brought to the Island and placed, with appropriate ceremony, at the Point of the Cape, where they rest under the sundial monument.
