  • A five foot diameter donut-shaped full circle equatorial pierced by equally massive Indiana Limestone shaft as gnomon. Hour numerals are Arabic. Subdivided into 15 minute increments. Equation of Time is given in the plaque at base At the time, it was declared Indiana’s largest equatorial sundial. “We wanted to build something that would catch the interest of the public,” explained Stewart D. Tompkins, then executive vice president of Crown Hill Cemetery. “We also wanted the structure to be educational."
